The very Asia-Pacific region will therefore continue to thrive as an imperative marketplace in the coming days with estimated airline traffic growth driving the requirements for larger aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and the A350 XWB Family. This strong aspiration was expressed in the recent days by the President and CEO of Airbus Tom Enders.
He was speaking to the press and media at the recently completed Singapore Airshow where he stressed on the increasing numbers of Asian passengers in the last few years along with the intensification of aviation in the most prominent cities of the region. This, according to him, will lead to the creation of considerable demand for jetliners in the A350 and A380 size categories. Speaking on this Enders said, "We have to make the most of new technology to support such essential growth through the use of larger, more efficient aircraft. That's why in the next 20 years, we expect 39 percent of twin-aisles such as the A350 XWB Family to be concentrated here in Asia-Pacific, along with 56 percent of large aircraft like the A380." However, already both of A380 and A350 have started garnering good amount of orders from high profile clientele.
In addition, answering to the reporters he said, "I am often asked whether this [airline industry] boom is just a bubble or if it is going to continue, and my response is always the same: many of these orders are coming from the booming Asian market, which continues to grow in line with its economic growth".
